Part-time Instructors

Minimum Qualification : Bachelor’s Degree
Job Location : Emmitsburg, MD

Summary:
The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for supporting the delivery of the FEMA courses.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform classroom instruction that follows course curriculum
  • Project an appropriate professional image
  • Efficiently converse with individuals taking the course and colleagues alike
  • Have a high level of self-discipline in order to effectively guide a successful completion of the course

Nonessential Functions:

  • None

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in emergency management or an associated field of study from an institution that is accredited by a nationally recognized Regional Accrediting Organization for Higher Education
  • Documentation of at least five years of emergency management experience at mid-management level or higher
  • Documentation of at least three years teaching emergency management to adults
  • Resume detailing responsibility, authority, and length of time in profession
  • Two letters of reference indicating emergency management accomplishments and abilities
  • Two letters of reference from leadership in organizations where they have delivered training
  • Letter of recommendation from their respective Federal, State, or Tribal emergency management organization
  • Provide course title, description, objectives, topics presented, dates presented, and syllabus
  • Successful completion of:
    • E/L 110 Foundations of Emergency Management Train the Trainer
    • Introduction to the Incident Command System (IS-100)
    • Fundamentals of Emergency Management (IS-230.b)
    • NIMS, An Introduction (IS-700)
    • The National Response Framework, An Introduction (IS-800)

Working Conditions:

  • Duties are primarily in a classroom setting. This position will work closely with other instructors and students.
