C² Technologies, Inc. Wins Army Contract for Education, Training Support—Nearly 125 New High-Tech Jobs Are Coming to the Hampton Roads Area

VIENNA, VA (January 26, 2006)—American soldiers will get additional support to do their duty, thanks to hundreds of area residents and C² Technologies, Inc. The Army’s Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) awarded the Vienna-based company a $346 million contract to provide a range of distance learning services ranging from online, interactive courseware to traditional classroom instructional materials. The contract is for one year, with four additional option years.

The Army’s goal is to develop an Integrated Training Environment in which the service can offer training capabilities just in time, any time.

Taking the training to its soldiers is a high priority for the Army as part of its overall transformation into a more agile, lethal, and mobile force.

The troops of tomorrow can now look forward to experiencing realistic, dynamic scenarios in a controlled setting before facing life-or-death consequences in the field. For example, C² Technologies, Inc.:

C² has assembled a world-class team of leaders in innovative technologies, simulation and modeling. The team includes VMASC, SAIC, ManTech, and Camber Corporation.

Virginia’s Secretaries of Technology and Commerce and Trade, Aneesh Chopra and Pat Gottschalk, commented, “We are pleased to see one of CIT’s (The Center for Innovative Technology) client companies and VMASC, one of the Commonwealth’s most exciting collaborative endeavors, working together to bring new jobs and new opportunities to the Hampton Roads region, while providing the Army with an invaluable resource at the same time.”

As a result of this latest award, C² expects to hire more than 100 new employees to support the new contract.

Upon learning of the contract award, Delegate Phillip Hamilton (R-Newport News) said, "The announcement that C² Technologies in Newport News received a contract to support its Distributed Learning Education and Training Products Program is further evidence of the diversity of employment opportunities now available in our area. The additional high-paying jobs this contract brings are a welcomed addition to the highly qualified workforce that currently exists. Hopefully, this award will be the first of many more to follow."

With headquarters in the Washington, DC metro area, and a “Center for Excellence” in Newport News, VA, C² Technologies, Inc. is already delivering Virtual Mobile Team training to the soldiers in Iraq in real-time. The U.S. Army's Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) has tasked C² to develop mission-critical training via distributed learning technologies, leveraging unique interactive 3D and collaborative learning solutions to deliver potentially life-saving training in real-time to soldiers performing Battle Damage Assessment and Repair (BDAR) procedures on the Stryker armored vehicle. The Stryker BDAR training program has been deployed to Camp Victory, Iraq, as well as bases in the United States, within a timeline of 90 days.
